The CGS103A is a 3/4 model classical guitar from the School Guitar series by Yamaha. This nylon-string acoustic guitar is the perfect solution for the young beginner who isn't big enough for a full-sized instrument yet. Its somewhat smaller size and 3/4 string-length makes it an excellent fit for children from about the age of 8. Adults with smaller posture will also find that this is a great choice for a guitar that's easier to handle. Despite its small size though, the Yamaha CGS103A is an instrument to take seriously. It does indeed have the same sound characteristics and craftsmanship as its big brothers, and for a very attractive price!

Yamaha CGS103A: Full-Size Sound

The School Guitars series consists of diverse sizes of affordable entry-level guitars that are based on Yamaha's popular CG line of classical guitars. They use the same construction and wood types that produce the unmistakable Yamaha sound and feel. The neck is made of nato, a type of eastern mahogany. It has a comfortable width of 48 mm and is equipped with a 19-fret rosewood fretboard. The sound cabinet of the CGS103A has a real spruce top with meranti sides and back. With a depth of 84-88 mm, this guitar is slightly thinner than the 4/4 size classical guitar, though the sound is just as full and warm.
